The Ridge Rooms launches the first Chatter & Natter table to tackle loneliness in Boston
The Ridge Rooms in Boston is leading the way in tackling loneliness and social isolation by being the first café in the town to join the Chatty Café Scheme.
Owned and run by Leanne Hills and her small team, The Ridge Rooms has always been a ‘home from home’ for many of their customers, so joining the Chatty Café Scheme which was set up to reduce loneliness and get people chatting, was a natural fit with her friendly café.
The Ridge Rooms now joins hundreds of cafes across the UK which have a designated Chatter & Natter table where customers can sit if they are happy to talk to other customers. Designed for everyone, if you are on your own, in a couple or with a friend, if you’re a carer, a mum or dad with babies, a young person or older person, the Chatter & Natter table at The Ridge Rooms is a place where you can sit, chat and maybe make new friends
The Chatter & Natter table is just another way Leanne and her friendly staff are aiming to bring more people together. Last Christmas they generously gave 40 of their regular customers, many of who would have spent the festive season alone, a complimentary Christmas lunch and on 15thFebruary The Ridge Rooms will be hosting an Evening of Friendship of Food to bring people together and celebrate friendships old and new.
Leanne said, “Friendships are very important, especially for those who have perhaps lost a loved one or no longer have any family living nearby, by creating a warm, friendly environment at The Ridge Rooms where everyone feels welcome and valued is as important to us as serving delicious, home cooked food – in fact you could say it’s our not so secret ingredient.”
